Tennis champ does some crowd control
I still love you guys — don't worry. I'm very, very happy that I won my first Grand Slam here, so hopefully we'll see you here on this stage a lot more often.'' Djokovic felt as if he had to fight two rivals — the fans and his opponent — in beating Federer and Tsonga. He frequently yelled when things went wrong. ''Sometimes, you just can't control your emotions on the court,'' he said. ''I'm still learning. I'm still young.'' Djokovic, 20, of Serbia, is the first man other than No. 2 Rafael Nadal to win a Grand Slam title from Federer since Marat Safin won the 2005 Australian Open. Djokovic said he was under extreme pressure to defeat Tsonga, an unseeded Frenchman who had beaten four players in the top 14, including Nadal in straight sets in the semifinals.

After 120 years in business, Cavanaugh's faces the end of the line
Its almost a tragedy, said Tom Marino, 51, as he looked around the Cavanaugh Ace Hardware store Thursday morning as shoppers searched the aisles for bargains. The Cavanaughs have been part of this community for so long. Marino, an Auburn Regional Valley Authority fire captain who grew up in Auburn, said he used to come into the store as a teenager. Im in mourning, he said.Owners Pat and Jan Cavanaugh who live on Lake Tapps will remain a part of the greater Auburn community but the store that has been a fixture in downtown Auburn since 1896 is going out of business, the victim of a failed downtown redevelopment project. They closed the store Saturday to hang the Going out of Business Sale signs in the windows. The final sale which will continue until everything is sold.Pat Cavanaugh, 63, is the fourth generation to run the store that his great grandfather Sam Cavanaugh first opened in 1887 in Kent which was then called Titusville before moving to Auburn.

Fortunately, Exclusive Escapes has recognised that solo travellers want luxury too. Scotching the myth
Well done, Mr Fraser (now that's a comment I never thought I would make). Along with Mr Leask you set out a compelling case for fiscal autonomy. There is still a tinge of cringe in your writing, but overall this is a vast improvement over some of your previous tortuous Union-slanted articles. .
China warns of 'grim' situation
The most difficult period is still not over yet. The situation remains grim," the Chinese cabinet said in a statement reported on Saturday by The Associated Press. More snow and sleet were forecast across southern and central China. The warning came as millions of Chinese began preparations for next week's Lunar New Year holiday period. On Friday, heartbreaking video from the southern city of Guangzhou showed crowds of people -- many of them migrant workers --screaming, elbowing each other, in some cases sobbing and collapsing in the rush to get a slot on a train. Police battled to keep order in chaotic scenes in the capital of southern Guangdong province. One officer lifted a small child above the crowd as the child's mother clutched the officer's coat.
How Email Brings You Closer to the Guy in the Next Cubicle
As a columnist (which is fancy for "journalist in jammies"), I ought to personify the conventional wisdom that distance is dead: All I need to get my work done is a place to perch and a Wi-Fi signal. But if that's true, why do I still live in London, the second-most expensive city in the world? If distance really didn't matter, rents in places like London, New York, Bangalore, and Shanghai would be converging with those in Hitchcock County, Nebraska (population 2,926 and falling). Yet, as far as we can tell through the noise of the real estate bust, they aren't. Wharton real estate professor Joseph Gyourko talks instead of "superstar cities," which have become the equivalent of luxury goods — highly coveted and ultra-expensive. If geography has died, nobody bothered to tell Hitchcock County.
What FBI Whistle-Blower Sibel Edmonds Found in Translation
Most Americans have never heard of Sibel Edmonds, and if the U.S. government has its way, they never will. The former FBI translator turned whistle-blower tells a chilling story of corruption at Washington's highest levels - sale of nuclear secrets, shielding of terrorist suspects, illegal arms transfers, narcotics trafficking, money laundering, espionage. She may be a first-rate fabulist, but Ms. Edmonds' account is full of dates, places and names. And if she is to be believed, a treasonous plot to embed moles in American military and nuclear installations and pass sensitive intelligence to Israeli, Pakistani and Turkish sources was facilitated by figures in the upper echelons of the State and Defense Departments. Her charges could be easily confirmed or dismissed if classified government documents were made available to investigators.
