| Wash. State GOP Lawmaker Resigns Amid Alleged Sex Tryst
OLYMPIA, Wash. A Republican state legislator who repeatedly voted against gay rights measures resigned his seat Wednesday amid revelations he had sex with a man he met at an erotic video store while in Spokane on a GOP retreat. In a written statement, Rep. Richard Curtis, of La Center, said that while he believes he's done a lot of good during his time in the Legislature, "events that have recently come to light have hurt a lot of people." "I sincerely apologize for any pain my actions may have caused," he wrote. "This has been damaging to my family, and I don't want to subject them to any additional pain that might result from carrying out this matter under the scrutiny that comes with holding public office." Three days earlier, Curtis had insisted to his local newspaper that he was not gay and that sex was not involved in what he said was an extortion attempt by a man last week.

Last night I saw Sheryl Crow at Avery Fisher Hall in NYC. She sounded good -- classic Sheryl. Her new album, Wildflower, isn't as rockin' as her older stuff -- it's more laid-back, mellow, chilled-out tunes. The audience reflected the maturity of the album. It was definitely a 30-and-up set. There were a lot of families, which was interesting. Linda Wells, the editor-in-chief of Allure, sat right near me with her husband and her two sons. (My sister commented that both boys could use a haircut, but I liked their shaggy 'dos.) Another celeb sighting: comedian Gilbert Godfried, who sat directly behind me. He was wearing earplugs at a Sheryl Crow concert. I don't know exactly what he was expecting, but I guarantee that earplugs weren't necessary. Besides, with all the screaming he does during his stand-up you'd think he'd have trouble hearing in the first place.

AmCOMP Incorporated (Nasdaq:AMCP) today announced results for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 2007. Full Year 2007 Results: For the year ended December 31, 2007, net income increased 13.7% to $18.8 million, or $1.20 per diluted share, compared to net income of $16.6 million, or $1.11 per diluted share, for the year ended December 31, 2006. Weighted average diluted shares outstanding were 15,656,000 in 2007 compared to 14,931,000 in 2006. Total annual revenue decreased 12.3% to $249.1 million in 2007 compared to $283.9 million in the prior year. The net combined ratio for the year ended December 31, 2007, improved to 93.8% from 95.8% for the same period in 2006. How can a person claim to follow Christ and not turn the other cheek? How can a person claim to follow Christ and not realize that this life is forfeitable while the next is not?Christ laid down rules of behavior. They are not the Hebrew rules. They are the rules as outlined by the commandments. They have as a center, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." It does not say other Christians or humans or heterosexuals or whatever class you place yourself in.
Government: Exhume Bhutto
Al-Qaeda linked militants denied being behind the killing of the 54-year-old former prime minister although the Government of nuclear-armed Pakistan, a key US ally in fighting terrorism, had said on Friday it had proof of their involvement.
