| RegTel drafts new rules for premium services
A reduction in the maximum spending limits for premium rate phone services is among the proposals contained in RegTel's new draft code of practice. Under the premium rate regulator's new code, published Tuesday, the maximum spend on 'chat and dating' calls would be reduced from EUR60 to EUR40, while the maximum for 'live' services would go from EUR90 to EUR60. Operators of such services would also have to warn customers when they reach spending thresholds of EUR20 and EUR30 respectively. Tom Higgins, CEO of Irish Psychics live, was quoted in the Irish Independent on Tuesday as saying: "We've been very unhappy with the code of practice for some time. Our price warning is given at 12 minutes (when EUR28.80 has been spent) and at 24 minutes (EUR57.60)." Callers to psychic, tarot card and horoscope lines would also have to be informed that such services are for entertainment purposes only.

Flo Rida - Ten Weeks On Top For Flo Ridas Low
Rapper FLO RIDA has scored a 10th week atop the U.S. singles chart with his cool anthem LOW. The hitmaker cracked the top of the Billboard Hot 100 at the beginning of the year (08) - and he has been there ever since, keeping the likes of Alicia Keys, Rihanna and Chris Brown away from number one. But reported couple Brown and Rihanna are still Flo Rida's leading competition - Brown's With You and Rihanna's Don't Stop The Music remain at numbers two and three respectively on the new countdown. Meanwhile, Sara Bareilles' Love Song jumps up from five to four, switching places on the new chart with Alicia Keys' No One. Country icon George Strait scores the week's highest debut, entering the Hot 100 at 54 with I Saw God Today. And Paula Abdul is back in the charts for the first time since 1995 - Dance Like There's No Tomorrow, the pop star's collaboration with fellow American Idol judge Randy Jackson debuts at 80.
Gym bounces gay man for his flirty T-shirt
David Cano says the T-shirt he concocted was just a gag: "I NEED A MAN OR A DATE. Serious inquiries only." Plus his phone number, complete with area code. Cano's joke didn't amuse everyone at his gym, the California Family Fitness Center in Elk Grove. Member complaints about the shirt led management to ask that he stop wearing it. When Cano refused, his gym trial membership was revoked due to "disorderly conduct." That was on Valentine's Day. Now Cano is the one making serious inquiries to a lawyer. He believes he is being discriminated against because he is gay. .
Beaufort has 18th-century seaport charm
Once a bustling seaport, Beaufort likes to boast that it's the third-oldest town in North Carolina, dating from 1709. Another distinction is its claim that it was once the headquarters of Blackbeard, the notorious pirate. Today, it is better known for the dozens of historic homes and commercial buildings that line its small but marvelously preserved downtown. Beaufort's business district is reminiscent of a small European town, because old homes and businesses are still used today as they have been for the past three centuries. The main street lies along Taylor's Creek, a tidal tributary off Beaufort Inlet. Where the creek once saw commercial sailing vessels anchored and waiting to moor along the seawall, today's vessels are nearly all pleasure craft.

Kidd trade to Mavs will cost Dallas $11 million more than original ...
Harris' numbers have improved each of his four years in the league, and we feel that he has a significant upside. This trade also will give us two future first-round draft picks and will give us flexibility to improve our roster." Thorn told The Associated Press that as the Nets struggled this season, Kidd lost some of the intensity that defines him as a player, making it imperative that the team trade him. Thorn said he first noticed it in December, an indirect reference to an incident in which Kidd sat out a game against the New York Knicks with a migraine, a move some considered a one-day walkout to force a trade. "Over the course of time it became very evident that his heart wasn't in it," Thorn said. "The kind of player he is, if his heart's not in it then he's not the same player, and it became evident to me that his heart wasn't in it anymore.
Spirit West Coast music festival is feast of personal ministry time
DEL MAR, Calif. Outside the glow of concert lights and beyond earshot of the main stage at Spirit West Coast, a small army of volunteers uses the lure of the music festival to minister to hundreds of music lovers from across California, Nevada and Arizona. It’s an aspect of the festival that Producer Jon Robberson finds especially rewarding. "Regardless of the music style, the message of Jesus and His love permeates the music at Spirit West Coast," the festival’s Web site boasts. "The message of faith in Christ is delivered in many other ways, always with the paramount purpose of impacting people with the gospel of Jesus Christ." This year, that message of faith will be delivered May 23 to 25 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Keynote speakers One of the ways Robberson and his crew encourage ministry is with the nightly lineup of speakers and comedians.
Kotsay won’t play in Andruw’s shadow
Safe, not so much. Kotsay's a gamble. If he can play 150 games, it pays off. If he's closer to the career-low 56 he played last year, the Braves have a problem. (Kotsay wasn't injured Thursday. He reported early and played in Wednesday's exhibition against Georgia. Long bus rides to Vero Beach tend to be bad for backs, so Cox rested him.) Kotsay never had a back issue until 2003, when he crashed into the wall at Colorado while playing for San Diego, putting him on the disabled list with a sprain. The following year with the A's, he played in 148 games and batted a career-high .314. But the back worsened the next two seasons. In 2006, he missed 25 of Oakland's final 51 games. He added yoga stretches to his conditioning program. But the herniated disc in his back wasn't receptive.
Sask. woman wins legal battle against drug dealer
Look soon to seeing"tougher"legislation being passed regarding alcohol. Ritalin use is up not only in kids but adults as they found out it could be snorted like cocaine. Same has been found to be true for asthma inhalers. Legal drugs are just as dangerous as illegal ones. So if you are serious about a"tough on drugs'legislation, then it needs to go after the "legal" dealers also. .
Happily retired Curtis Martin dashing toward NFL ownership
Curtis Martin is running again. This time, he's not restricted to a rectangle. He's finally free, able to go anywhere at any time, chasing instead of being chased. It's his new life, the life he always wanted, and he's going after it hard. He's up at dawn, eating a blueberry muffin and whipping up a fruit smoothie in his blender - mango, bananas, strawberries, dates and orange juice. Freshly squeezed, of course. He's studying the business pages and the Internet. Stopping by city hall to huddle with Mayor Bloomberg's honchos. Shopping for groceries with the homeless. Flying around the country in a private jet to meet with powerbrokers. Dating a supermodel. Working up a serious sweat in the boxing ring, his new passion. "It's like I have access to a whole new world, a world I disciplined myself away from when I played football," says Martin, who retired in July as the NFL's fourth all-time leading rusher.
Just When You Thought the Corporate Media Couldn’t Get Any Worse
Rockerbabe1's comment about how "You boys are all the same. . .nothing good about any woman running for office comes out of your mouths" reveals that shallow, knee-jerk quality I've come to expect from so-called feminists. I've been on the receiving end of similar "analysis" at least twice before in my life, and both times did little but undermine my confidence in the merits of so-called feminism. Once, a college girlfriend called me a sexist—because my CD collection ran too "male-heavy." (I thought I liked my favorite bands because of how they sounded and because their lyrics spoke to me, but I was wrong—it was all really about their genitals.) The other time was in a graduate course on Methodologies in the Study of Comparative Religion.
Murder Puns Are Funs!
Thanks to the writers strike and consequent lack of anything new to watch on TV, I've had to expand my viewing horizons. I used to be a CSI snob, only allowing myself to watch the Las Vegas episodes. I felt that the other series' were cheap imitations. I still feel that way about the New York show (though they do have a great intro song), but now I'm TOE-TALLY into Miami. Last night alone, I watched six episodes of David Caruso putting his sunglasses on and taking them off. His voice is just so soothing and he always cocks his head to the side just right and the ladies luuuve him and he's just so nice to little kids and people with handicaps and prostitutes. Plus, in Miami they have alligators and pirates and people wear all white outfits a lot! I've watched so much CSI in the past few weeks that I fully believe that I could solve a crime if I had to.
