Has anyone had enough of people constantly back-lashing the BBC?

I don't have the perfect solution for this, but the French model seems a fair compromise. They have the TV tax added to their house tax (Council Tax) and the revenue is sent to their state broadcaster. Those premises that don't have a TV simply complete a form and sign it and a log of these properties is retained. Those on low incomes, or single occupiers, that qualify for council tax reductions, presumeably get relief on their TV tax. This sounds like a cheaper and more efficient and user friendly method of funding public service broadcasting, though clearly not perfect. It is the BBC and the government that are resisting the change and are clinging to a system of finance that that was devised back in the early 1950s when there was only 1 TV station, which then was a rich mans toy. Is asking the BBC to wake-up and appreciate things have changed a lot in the last 60 years considered back-lashing? They should remember that all TV viewers are financially shackled by the TV licence to fund them, while customers wishes on this subject are totally disregarded.

Media plot to ‘maintain status quo’

Freedom, beautiful freedom, one of the building blocks of democracy.

And finally, I admire the proclamation that Fox News is Americas most trusted news source. For young men who grew up without a father, the likes of Bill OReilly, Sean Hannity and our dear closet homosexual friend John Gibson (as Fox News might report it: Why do you think he has an h in his name?) fill the void and impart life lessons, such as do not question authority, America is the only real country in the world, conservative values rock, the homosexuals have an agenda to corrupt our children, rap music is responsible for all of societys ills, the French serve the Dark Lord because they had the unnerving gall to follow their own foreign policy with regards to Iraq and any missing white girl is important and a call for alarm, right along with a call to whoever happens to advertise during these highly rated programs.

Blake breezes past fellow American Warburg at San Jose ATP

A wild card, Levine posted a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Steve Darcis of Belgium on Monday.

Blake is trying to erase memories of Sunday's shocking loss to Japanese teen Kei Nishikori in the final of the Delray Beach tournament.

Nishikori, who became the first Japanese player since 1992 to win an ATP singles title, also is in the field here on a sponsor's exemption. He won't see Blake unless the players reach the final.

But he could get a chance to pull off his second giant-killing episode in as many weeks if he gets past Diego Hartfield in the first round.

His second round opponent would likely be top seeded American Andy Roddick, who begins opening round play on Wednesday.

Picked off by Nishikori in the Delray Beach semi-finals, American Sam Querrey lost again Tuesday to German qualifier Denis Gremelmayr 5-7, 7-6 (7/1), 6-3.

eHarmony.com sued for excluding homosexuals

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A Los Angeles woman has sued the popular online dating site eHarmony.com, claiming she was discriminated against based on her sexual orientation when the Web site refused to pair her with another woman.

eHarmony was founded in 2000 by Neil Clark Warren, an evangelical with ties to Focus on the Family, and it has grown to more than 12 million registered users, according to Reuters.

The lawyer for the woman, Linda Carlson, said the lawsuit was "about changing the landscape and making a statement out there that gay people, just like heterosexuals, have the right and desire to meet other people with whom they can fall in love." Carlson is urging fellow homosexuals to join the class action lawsuit geared toward forcing eHarmony to change its policy.

McCain Blasts Clinton's and Obama's Attacks On NAFTA

During a town hall meeting at the headquarters of Dell Computers in this suburb of Austin, McCain said criticism of NAFTA by New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama could have "an adverse effect" on Canada's commitment to fighting alongside U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

"We need our Canadian friends and we need their continued support in Afghanistan," McCain said during the meeting with Dell employees. "So what do we do? The two Democratic candidates for president say that they're going to unilaterally ... abrogate the North America Free Trade Agreement. ... Now how do you think the Canadian people are going to react to that?"

Weekend preview: Elite teams flock to weekend tournaments

Since 2004, Houston's Minute Maid Park has been the center of the college baseball universe in February. The Houston College Classic (formerly the Minute Maid Classic) has earned a reputation as the unofficial kickoff event to the college baseball season, attracting bunches of elite teams and scores of scouts and scouting directors eager to get an early look at some of the nation's top talent.

This year's Houston College Classic figures to be another strong event -- you can expect fireworks anytime rivals and perennial national powers Rice and Texas get together, and unranked teams like Tennessee and Oklahoma have intriguing young talent -- but it's no longer a can't-miss stop on the college baseball calendar.

The Feb. 22 uniform start date has created a proliferation of early-season tournaments from coast to coast.
